There is no better retirement destination than The Villages, Florida or one of the nearby upscale active, adult communities. The Village of Fenney is not contiguous with the retirement destination known as "The Villages Florida," where you can access everything easily by golf cart.
The developer skillfully uses its High-Pressure Lifestyle Preview Plans, Internet videos, ownership of The Villages® Daily Sun Newspaper, and local television and radio to create the misconception by buyers that The Village of Fenney is but 4 miles away from "The Villages" and has everything you need to enjoy an active retirement by golf cart. The reality is that Fenney is 8 miles from Colony shopping and 10 to 15 miles from Lake Sumter Landing and Spanish Springs town squares . . . by car. Golf cart paths and bridges do not provide reasonable access to the major centers of activity and the abundance of recreation, social, and commercial ammenities available to residents north of SR-44.
What the developer doesn't disclose is the large understaffed, and potentially dangerous federal prison. The nearby dynamiting stone quarry or the 24/7 toll road noise. The lack of adequate parking at Fenney's recreation facilities is causing the overflow to congest neighborhood streets. Residents of Fenney are up-in-arms, questioning the developer's "poor planning and woeful lack of reasonable disclosure." The Village of Fenney and the other villages south of SR-44 are not contiguous with the Villages north of SR-44. New home buyers are restricted from selling their home for one-year. Why's that?
The average Villager doesn't play golf, use any of the over 100 recreation centers, or any of the over 3,000 social clubs. What the average Villager enjoys most about The Villages is the abundance of commercial amenities right at the fingertips. Not 15 miles away. Golf cart access is inconsequential to the average resident of Fenney and other nearby residents. Really, is anyone going to be pleased to drive a golf cart for over an hour to play golf or enjoy lunch north of SR-44?
If the smaller self-contained community is appealing to you, there are upscale, gate-secured, active adult communities much closer to The Villages than Fenney that offers a Championship Golf and Country Club and recreation and social amenities like The Villages, with much more home for the money, lower cost of living, and easier access to The Villages commercial amenities than Fenney and the neighboring villages south of SR-44.
