The Villages Is Unimaginable
There is no such thing as "The Villages Florida Lifestyle." What The Villages Florida offers that other retirement locations do not is an abundance of recreational, social, and commercial amenities within the community. Amenities that allow you to create your very own retirement lifestyle. To accomplish this you must have a broad awareness of The Villages Florida. Once you know where the amenities are that best fit your retirement lifestyle, you will be able to discover which neighborhoods allow for the most convenient access to the amenities you will use most often to enjoy a full, and active retirement.
The Villages is comprised of 17 contiguous special-purpose municipalities, Community Development Districts (CDDs). Thirteen residential three commercial VCDDs, and one utility independent district. CDDs are developed pursuant to Florida Statutes as an efficient way to finance and operate and maintain infrastructures.
The Villages currently has about 130,000 residents and still growing. There are 41 nine-hole "Executive Golf Courses" that residents can play free for the rest of their lives. There are 13 Championship Golf Country Clubs that are open to the public without any initiation fee or monthly dues. Eleven of the clubs have a bar and grill and dining facilities, and a well-stocked pro shop. Three of the clubs have teaching and practice facilities. To play there is a modest green fee that includes a golf cart. Green fees vary depending on the course selected and the time of year.
Residents north of SR-44 can drive throughout The Villages proper in a golf cart, even at night. There are over 100 miles of golf cart trails. Most residents own a golf cart or two. There are tunnels to get you under major thoroughfares and a golf cart bridge over US Hwy. 441/27. Most of the recreation facilities, the nearly 100 restaurants, shopping, and three town squares are located north of SR-44. The best home locations are located North of SR-44.
Villagers have golf cart access to the polo grounds, two performing arts centers featuring world-renowned entertainment, two state-of-the-art bowling facilities, a life-long learning college, and three 8-screen movie theaters. All are commercial amenities available to non-residents. And there are places of worship for most faiths.
There's an abundance of recreation amenities strategically placed throughout The Villages, including over 80 heated swimming pools, start-of-the-art tennis courts, softball facilities, bocce ball, shuffleboard, platform-tennis, horseshoes, pickle-ball, over 3,100 social clubs, and much more. The Amenities Fee is currently $179 per month.
There are 3 town squares with free live entertainment 365 days per year. The Villages has a regional hospital and medical center, wellness and assisted living facilities, several strip shopping centers. Over 130 restaurants, countless boutiques, and much more. All recreation, social and commercial amenities north of SR 44 are easily accessible by golf cart.
